Before you reach out
How much time does volunteering take?
Most reading buddies give about one hour a week during the school year. Mentors and club volunteers can do more if they’d like, but consistency matters more than hours — kids remember the person who keeps showing up.
Who can be a reading buddy or mentor?
Anyone 16 and older. You don’t need teaching experience — we provide training, materials, and a coordinator who has your back. High-school mentors are paired with younger students.
Do you run background checks?
Yes. Every adult volunteer who works with students completes a background check and a short orientation before they’re matched. The safety of kids is non-negotiable.
Where does Kindfuly operate?
We’re active in 28 states and growing. When you reach out, we match you with a partner school or program near you through one of our six regional teams.
How is my donation used?
82¢ of every dollar goes directly to programs — books, materials, and staffing for clubs. We publish a revenue breakdown and are independently audited every year.
Can my company or foundation get involved?
Absolutely. Corporate and foundation partners fund whole programs, match employee gifts, and send volunteer teams. See our partners page or choose “corporate or foundation giving” in the form.
